Mrs. Bronwyn Newman, RN CDE.

I am a registered nurse with a diverse background across multiple healthcare areas, including perioperative nursing, paramedicine, general practice.

I am passionate about providing comprehensive and compassionate care, particularly for individuals managing diabetes at various stages of life. My interests include childhood and adolescent diabetes care, glycaemic support for preconception, pregnancy and gestational diabetes, as well as pre- and post-operative diabetes care.

I am committed to supporting patients and their families with tailored guidance and care that meets their unique needs, ensuring optimal health outcomes and improved quality of life. 

 

What I Provided as a Credentialled Diabetes Educator

I provide NDSS registration & updates, BGL machines/ CGM (Dexcom/ Libre) access and education, Insulin start/ SGLp1 start education, Omnipod pump/ Tandem pump education (check back for available pump start/ education late 2026). 

Personalised Diabetes Education Plans

I have developed a tailored diabetes education plan specifically designed for individuals newly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes (T1), Type 2 Diabetes (T2), and Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM).

The plan aims to support a person-centred care approach, empowering you to engage with your health and goals. I focus on self-care behaviour change, this assists you with stratergies to understand Diabetes & the best care option/s for managing living with Diabetes day-to-day.

A comprehensive plan not only provides essential information about living with diabetes but also encourages positive lifestyle modifications in a supportive environment. Through education, I strive to equip each person with the knowledge and tools you need to lead a healthier life with Diabetes. With consistent guidance and reputable resources, you can navigate Diabetes with confidence, make informed decisions about your health, and ultimately improve your overall well-being.

Private Practice Services: Comprehensive diabetes self-management support, including care for Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes, impaired glucose tolerance, and pregnancy-related diabetes (Gestational Diabetes). Services include support for newly diagnosed patients, individualized private consultations, GP Chronic Care Management Plan (GPCCMP) consultations with referral letters, group consultations, insulin initiation, and expertise in diabetes technology.

Patient Focus: Tailored care for children, teenagers, adults, older adults, as well as glycaemic management support for preconception, pregnancy, and gestational diabetes management. Providing accessible and flexible diabetes education and support in collaboration with your General Practitioner, Endocrinologist or Specialist.

Certifications: Bachelor of Nursing, Postgraduate Diploma of Paramedicine, Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Management.

With over 15 years of experience in nursing, Mrs. Bronwyn Newman began her career in 2008 with a perioperative nursing background. She is currently working in General Practice, where she specialises in Diabetes Education & Management.

How to Book a Private Consultation:

Booking a private consultation is quick and simple. Start by visiting our website. From there, email, call, or book online.

Online bookings: Select your preferred date and time from the available options.

Enquire to book: Phone or email to provide contact details, Diagnosis and appointment goal of care/ what you want to achieve in your first Diabetes education session.

How to Book Diabetes Education/ Allied Health visits under the New GP Care Plan:

If you’re looking to access allied health services (Credentialled Diabetes Educator) through the new General Practice Chronic Conditions Management Plan (GPCCMP) in Australia, the process is straightforward.

  1. First, consult your GP to determine if you’re eligible for a care plan.
  2. If approved, your GP and practice nurse will create a personalised management plan that includes referrals to allied health professionals such as a diabetes educator, podiatrist, physiotherapists, accredited dietitians, or an exercise physiologist.
  3. Once you’ve received your care plan and the accompanying referral(s) letter, contact the specified allied health provider directly to book an appointment.

At SHG Diabetes Education, please email a copy of your referral letter and care plan.

Please discuss your main goal/ what you want to achieve in your first Diabetes Education session.

Attach a copy of the referral letter and your care plan document in the email, or bring a copy to your appointment: salubrityhealthgroup@outlook.com.au

Be sure to mention that you’re using a GPCCMP care plan to ensure the correct billing and Medicare rebate is invoiced to be processed.

Note: Full fee is taken on the day of your appointment. Medicare gap fees are processed and claimable direct to Medicare. Any Medicare gap rejections are subject to Medicare and will follow their guidelines.

Remember, a care plan from your GP typically covers a set number of subsidised sessions each year, so confirm your entitlements with your GP or Medicare before booking.

If you have utilised all of your 5 visits for the Calander year. The attendance becomes a private consultation (Full out of pocket fee).

Taking these steps will ensure a seamless experience accessing the care you need under a care plan.

You can access care privately if you would like to continue care once the GPCCMP visits have been exhausted. Please enquire about private out of pocket fees. With a Care Plan visit: Medicare currently covers $61.80 (updated last 27.4.2026, subject to change as per Medicare).

Current Private Fees: $61.80 - 20 minute consultation, $110 - 40 minute consultation/ Initial consultation.

SHG Diabetes Education aims to provide equitable access to Diabetes care.

 

As previously discussed SHG Diabetes Education operate as a private practice, full payment is required on the day of your appointment. Please feel free to discuss fees during your visit. If you are eligible for subsidies under a care plan, consult your GP about obtaining a Chronic Conditions Management Plan (GPCCMP). This plan allows you to access up to 5 Medicare-subsidized visits for diabetes education. Make sure to email or bring a copy of your care plan to your appointment.

For Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander clients, you may be eligible for additional support/ Medicare visits. Speak with your GP about completing an ATSI Health Assessment, which can provide access to up to 10 Medicare-subsidized allied health visits, this includes Diabetes Education.

Once you have used all your GPCCMP-covered visits, private fee-based appointments are available to continue your care.
